250TH ANNIVERSARY CAMPAIGN: Some Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is the 250th Anniversary Campaign—is it related to the “capital campaign” members were talking about last year?

Ans: Yes. The Congregation voted on Dec. 10, 2006 to have a 250th Anniversary Campaign to raise $525,000. For more information, please read "How We Got Here" or contact me.

2) How did the Anniversary Campaign get started?

Ans: It goes back to 2002 and involves many members spending lots of time considering CCB’s future needs. “How We Got Here” is a brief history of that process.

3) What are the next steps in the Anniversary Campaign?

Ans: First, there was a “quiet” phase, developing the plans. Once the 2007 Stewardship drive was completed (so successfully), the Anniversary Campaign Cabinet began testing and refining its plans; this involved visiting and asking some members who are very knowledgeable about the Anniversary Campaign projects to pledge their support now, holding tours, articles for Crossways and other activities.

4) When will the Congregation be asked to pledge?

Ans: Beginning Sept. 9th, through many volunteers visiting with other members in their homes or elsewhere to talk about the Anniversary Campaign and supporting it. The goal is to have all pledge forms returned by September 26th so on our 250th Anniversary Celebration Sunday, September 30, the results of the Anniversary Campaign can be announced.

5) Who will be asked to give?

Ans: The success of the Anniversary Campaign depends on all of us at CCB. Members and close friends of CCB will be asked. Corporations and foundations do not give to church campaigns for parsonages and areas used in worship. Some gave to the cottage restoration because it was for refugees.

6) How much will I be asked to give?

Ans: For the Anniversary Campaign to succeed, pledges of all sizes will be needed. A table of all the gifts and pledges needed has been prepared and will be shared in the Campaign brochure in September to provide guidance. No one knows our personal circumstances. Thus, during the campaign visit to all in the Congregation in September, you will be asked to prayerfully consider a pledge in a range of dollars.

7) How long will I have to pay my pledge?

Ans: Over 3 years, ending 10/1/10.
