History of the Campaign

For All the Saints

     Updates along the way

September 2007 - Campaign Update

Sunday, Sept. 9th we begin the main phase of the 250th Anniversary Campaign with the commissioning of our trained volunteer visitors. That afternoon those visitors will begin phoning to arrange a convenient time for a visit. We hope you will welcome the visitor into your home (or arrange to meet at another convenient place). We have carefully matched each individual or family with a visitor who is already a friend, acquaintance or someone we feel you will enjoy meeting and getting to know.

Before Sept. 9th, each family in our church should receive a large envelope containing a letter and the campaign brochure which explains the projects in the campaign, a listing of all those who are working on the campaign and a table showing all the gifts needed for us to reach our goal of raising $525,000. Each gift is important and moves us closer to the completion of the projects included in this campaign. We hope you will read these materials carefully in preparation for your visit.

The 250th Anniversary Campaign was approved by congregational vote on Dec. 10, 2006, after months of research and planning by a variety of committees, task forces and groups. The Campaign Cabinet was approved at a Congregational meeting on Jan. 14, 2007, and the circle of people working on the campaign has expanded dramatically. From people appearing in the DVD, to children collecting coins for the campaign, to our recruiters and visitors, and our behind-the-scenes technical help, this campaign is involving so many of our members and friends. The success of the campaign depends on each of us stepping up and doing what we can.

We encourage you to begin now to prayerfully consider what your pledge to this important campaign will be and, after the visitor indicates a suggested gift level, be ready to pledge at the conclusion of your visit. Together with God’s help, like the Saints of the past, we will succeed.

If you have questions about the campaign, the process of visiting or the projects, please feel free to call me at 775-3991 or email me at JLVodra@aol.com.

Faithfully yours,
Nancy Vodra

May 2007 - Campaign Update

The 250th Anniversary Cabinet is thrilled to report that wonderful progress is being made.

Walt Fisher has been working diligently to provide a wide variety of ways for the congregation to refresh our memory of the four projects we voted to include in the campaign.  People with expertise and a willingness to help are seeing where they might fit in and are volunteering.

We hope that each of you will take advantage of the opportunities by attending worship, going on tours and regularly visiting the church website www.uccb.org for up-to-date information. We are all excited about the possibilities this campaign brings -- our historic parsonage renovated, our pipe organ restored and enhanced, the Fellowship Hall kitchen updated and central air conditioning installed in the entire Church School wing.

As members of your campaign cabinet, Bill and Bev Robertson, Robin Murphy, Walt Fisher, Alan Peck, Larry and I each have different areas of responsibility, but we share the same vision.

We have begun our first campaign visits and they are proving to be fun -- for both the visitor and the person being visited! With each of these initial visits, we are preparing, testing and refining our campaign plans. What a privilege it is to be invited into someone’s home and have a chance to talk about the church!

We look forward to the Anniversary Campaign visits to the entire congregation which will take place in September and conclude in time for the wonderful celebration of the church’s 250th Anniversary.

Please join us in joyfully celebrating the accomplishments of all the saints who have gone before us, the exciting work of the saints of today and the bright future which will be in the hands of the saints to come.

Faithfully yours,

Nancy Vodra, 250th Anniversary Campaign Chair

April 2007 - Campaign Update

This spring, learn more about the 250th Anniversary Campaign through our website, a tour or a presentation!  Be sure to look for information here on how CCB decided to have a campaign, and return each month to learn more.

Walt Fisher, our chair of communication, has arranged some special events. There will be a demonstration of the organ with examples of where restoration is needed, plus a tour of the space behind the pipes for the very brave!

Walt and his crew are beginning to take photos of activities around the church which will be used to publicize the projects included in the campaign. Smile! It isn’t Candid Camera, but they are trying to get good pictures for a DVD and printed material! Be ready to say “yes” if you receive a casting call from Walt.

Bill Robertson, the Honorary Chair of the Anniversary Campaign, assisted by other Campaign Cabinet members will begin visiting committees and groups in the church this month to make a brief informational presentation about the Anniversary Campaign.

With God’s help, all things are possible. As a cabinet and as a congregation, we seek God’s guidance as we move forward.

Yours faithfully,

Nancy Vodra, 250th Anniversary Campaign Chair

March 2007 - Campaign Update

Your campaign cabinet is hard at work thoughtfully and prayerfully planning the 250th Anniversary Campaign.

A lot of preparation is necessary to have a successful campaign. Soon we hope to begin sharing our progress with you.

Jesus said, in Mark 10:27 RSV “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”   We have a large task ahead of us. Relying on God’s help and guidance, we believe, as did those Christians who founded our church 250 years ago, that all things are possible with God. We can do this!

Please join your campaign cabinet in praying for our church during this exciting year of celebration, of our history and the bright possibilities of the future.

Yours faithfully, Nancy Vodra

January 2007 - Campaign Update

At the Congregational Meeting on Sunday, January 14th, the congregation voted to approve the leadership team for the 250th Anniversary Campaign.

Bill Robertson     Honorary Chair             Nancy Vodra       Campaign Chair

Robin Murphy     Vice Chair                   Walt Fisher         Communications

Bev Robertson    Assignments                Alan Peck           Recruitment

Larry Vodra        Tracker/ Treasurer

Our 250th Anniversary Campaign is an opportunity for us as individuals to grow in our understanding of stewardship. We need to learn more about expressing gratitude for all God has given us. We want to take the time necessary to discern what God would have us do with our time, talent and resources in this our 250th year. We need to reflect on how we can be responsible stewards of what we have inherited from those members who had the wisdom to build our church and educational building, buy a pipe organ and purchase a parsonage.

The popular culture has a saying "It's all about the money." But I say "It's not just about the money." Dave Buchan said in his Thanksgiving sermon that we can do far more than we think possible, and with God's help, I'm confident we'll have a successful campaign --not only successful in money raised, but also in strengthening our church.

Robin and I are thrilled to be working with such a dream team of talented and dedicated people. For the next several months, we'll be working quietly, behind the scenes. Good preparation will serve us well as we get ready to complete the campaign in September.

We ask for your prayers for our church, the campaign and all those working on the campaign.

Yours faithfully, Nancy Vodra
