Thanks from Simply Smiles
Simply Smiles is a non-profit organization working to change the lives of orphans, children with special needs, and families living in a garbage dump in Oaxaca, MX and the surrounding cities. Follow the link to find out more about Simply Smiles and how you can help!
In 2007, CIS invited Bryan Nurnberger, founder of Simply Smiles, to speak
with our church family at a potluck supper. We were so inspired by his
story, we gave his organization $2500 to build a house for a family living in
the dump at Oaxaca, Mexico. Here is his letter of thanks:
Dear Friends at Brookfield Congregational Church,
It is with great pleasure that I am able to write you again today to thank you
for your amazing contribution to Simply Smiles in support of our housing
project in Oaxaca, Mexico's Garbage Dump.
Your generosity and compassion for these amazing individuals allowed us to
provide the gift of not just a sturdy and appropriate home, but also the gifts
of comfort, security, and dignity. For this, I can literally not thank you
enough...
I would however like to try and express my gratitude once again. Enclosed,
please find an 8X10 photo of the home that you built. I think the faces in
these pictures say it all, but from Simply Smiles, and on behalf of our friends
in Mexico; "Thank you so very much!" You have
changed their lives forever.
With my deepest thanks,
Bryan Nurnberger
President/Founder
Simply Smiles Inc.
The original letter and photo are on the CIS bulletin board near the mailboxes.
Megan Montgomery, a high school senior from our church, will be traveling to
Oaxaca in April to help with the Simply Smiles project. We will invite her
to share her experiences at a potluck after she returns.
